Can't I "give" my bib to my friend if I can't run?

Can't. Due to USATF rules and regulations, each participant must register and sign their own waiver. Any walker or runner competing with another competitor's bib may be disqualified at the discretion of the race director.

Is the Cleveland Marathon now an AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group Qualifier? What does that mean?

They were selected as one of the qualifying events for the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Ranking, which includes a one-year qualifying period during which athletes from nine different age groups can compete in more than 50 marathons around the world to earn the ranking integral. After qualifying, the top runners in each age group will be invited to the Abbott Wanda Age Group World Championships in 2022. The rankings cover the age group of 40 and over.

Is the water provided along the route clean and safe to drink?

Yes! The water they use on the pitch on game weekends comes from fire hydrants that are flushed twice before game day. Fire hydrants are flushed two weeks before a race and again the day before a race or the morning of a race. The process they used to get their drinking water results was the same quality Cleveland residents would get when they turned on the tap. The Cleveland Water Department tests the water and assures them that it is safe. They also purchase new hoses each year to ensure the highest level of quality for their participants. And, as an added safety feature, their Waterstop volunteers wear gloves when handing out cups.

Is there a bag or backpack policy?

On race day, bags and backpacks are strongly discouraged in the start/finish area. For entrants, clear gear inspection bags will be provided, which must be used for gear inspection on race day. Spectators were also asked to travel light. Those carrying diaper bags, purses and other items should be aware that their bags may be searched near the start and finish lines. Any unattended luggage will be searched and removed from the premises.
