How long does it take to break in a pair of Dayton boots?

Depending on the specific leather utilized in your Daytons, it could take anywhere from 2 hours to 3 months. For example, the chrome leathers used in the Black Beauty Collection or the Classic Engineers are selected for durability and require a significant investment of time and wear before they are broken in. On the other hand, the oil tanned leathers utilized in products like the Confederate Series may only require a few hours of wear before enjoying years of comfortable use.

What do I used to treat my boots? Can I use polish?

They recommend their OK Oil to ensure the long life of your boots. Alternatively, anything that contains all natural ingredients. Please don't use shoe polish, animal fats or silicone-based products. Shoe polish clogs the pores of the leather and leather needs to breathe. The only exception to this rule is on their boots that have a "Chrome" finish like on the Beauties, Drivers or Parade/Police boots. These will welcome a good paste or wax and should polish up to a great shine. You should oil your boots about every 4-6 weeks, depending on the extent of the wear and the elements.

How waterproof are my boots?

The leathers used in Dayton Boots are built to help withstand the elements and if properly maintained and treated with OK Oil, on a regular basis, they will repel the water. However it is important to note, that unless your Daytons have a waterproof designation (usually requiring a waterproof membrane), they will not be totally waterproof.

Can my boots be re-soldes?

Yes, one of the principal advantages of a genuine welted construction is that your boots can be re-soled as long as the leather stays well conditioned. Their shoemakers need to be able to pull the leather over the last (mould). 

What is your return policy?

Dayton product can be returned for exchange or in store credit within 30 days if un-worn, in original condition, packaging and accompanied by a receipt. Each return will be assessed and may be refused at the sole discretion of Dayton.  They will not accept footwear with visible wear. Dayton is not responsible for any additional shipping costs for returns or exchanges.  They will not accept packages that have not been pre-authorized by their staff.  Packages should only be sent via the POSTAL SERVICE of your country and be marked as "CANADIAN GOODS RETURNED" for repair, exchange or warranty.  Value for duty and taxes should be marked as $1. Do not send via a Commercial Courier Companyunless all fees are prepaid on your account.  They will not pay any courier company brokerage or other fees upon receipt and you risk the package being returned to you with further costs. You are welcome to separately insure for whatever amount appropriate.
