Can I rent a card without credit card?

• The credit card must be presented with available credit, in the renter's name. The signature must match the name imprinted on the card.

• In addition, if the renter has an online transaction, the number and name printed on the card presented by renter must match the name and number stored for the online transaction.

• Renters without a ticketed return travel itinerary will need to provide a credit card with sufficient funds to cover the cost of the rental plus an additional amount between $200 to $400 based on rental location.

How old do you have to be to rent a car?
The minimum age to rent a vehicle is 21 years of age. There is no maximum restriction in the United States or Canada. See Exceptions below.

• A 'Youthful Surcharge' may be applied to your rental, if you are between the ages of 21 and 24. The average cost is approximately $25.00 per day but can be higher or lower based on the rental location.

• If you wish to know the cost of the 'Youthful Surcharge' you may begin the reservation process to determine the exact amount of the fee for the rental location (please remember you will have the option to confirm or cancel the reservation).

• Renters 21 through 24 years of age may be restricted to specific car classes. In Michigan and New York, the minimum age to rent is 18 as mandated by these states.

• U.S. military personnel and government employees ages 18 or older will not incur a Youthful Surcharge when renting for authorized government travel, but must show the rental location his or her official orders.

Is there a fee for an additional driver?

• Any additional driver (excluding a spouse or domestic partner) will pay a daily fee. Renter’s spouse or domestic partner who meet the same age and driver’s license requirements of the renter are authorized drivers at no additional charge. 

• Any additional authorized drivers must appear at time of rental and meet age and driver’s license requirements. An additional charge of $15 per day for each additional authorized driver will be added to the cost of the rental, unless other contractual conditions apply. In New York state, the additional authorized driver charge is $5 per day.

•  A spouse or domestic partner is the only permitted additional driver on a rental secured with a debit card.
