If my credit card payment does not work successfully, what will happen?

You will receive an email notification right away upon your credit card being declined. You will be prompted to update your information, and they will attempt to charge the card again in 3 business days. If your card is declined a second time you will be notified, and Guest Relations will contact you by phone within the next 10 days. 

Can I enjoy admission discounts?

Can you tell me if the animals are all viewable?

• To create some exciting new habitats and spaces in the Canadian Wilds, they are undergoing a massive construction project which will temporarily shift pathways and move some animals offsite until the construction is completed:Muskox, wood bison, woodland caribou, whooping crane and North American river otters are currently not viewable and won't return until 2023.The Jihad Shibley Rocky Mountain Aviary is currently closed.

• They’re working hard to minimize impacts while continuing to provide the best possible experience for both their visitors and the animals they love and care for. Thank you for your understanding.

What can I learn about the virtual experiences?

• Their virtual safari was absolutely fabulous! The students said it was like they were actually at the zoo! The educator was engaging, the information was terrific and the students loved to hear their questions being answered.

• They have had several parents tell them that their child went home and told them all about their penguin chat and now they want to go to the zoo as a family! 

• Their administration was also impressed with the use of technology and critical thinking by the students that was shown." ~Kindergarten educator.

What can I learn about the conservation experitise?

• Their conservation expertise is focused in two areas – Community Conservation and Conservation Translocations.

• Community Conservation empowers local communities to benefit from and protect wild species.

• These initiatives protect nature while improving the livelihoods of local people by building capacity, increasing ecological awareness, and creating employment opportunities.

• Conservation Translocations return endangered and at-risk species to the wilderness to prevent their extinction. Individuals that will be released can be taken from either wild or conservation breeding populations. 

• Translocations require sound science, long-term investment and continued monitoring to be successful. 

• The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is home to the IUCN Global Secretariat to the Species Survival Commission Conservation Translocations Specialist Group (CTSG).
